With such a busy schedule, it is easy to forget about the look of your home and sometimes the even tougher part is where to start. The living room is typically the best place to start your home refreshment. All you’ll need is a little determination and a slice of creativity to give your living room a much needed face-lift.
The simplest way to refresh your space is to add or change out the accessories. The first accessory change will be throw pillows and decorative blankets. Throw pillows are a really easy fix to sprucing up an old boring room. For fall, try adding dark reds, oranges, and yellows. You can also add more neutral colored pillows with the accent pillows. Don’t be afraid to be gaudy. My theory is, the more the better. You don’t need to throw out the original pillows, just add new bold pillows and BAM that couch will be looking brand new.
Another item that can liven up your living room is changing out lamps or adding lamps if you only have overhead lights. Lamps are often forgotten about when designing a room. A lot of people rely solely on the overhead ceiling lights to lighten the room but that is wrong. Add floor lamps or table lamps to an end table to give your living room a new look.
Lastly, the most simple and cheapest way to give your living room life is adding small accessories to end tables or coffee tables. Getting candles, picture frames, or another small addition to add to your living room tables will only better your room’s look. Don’t be fooled into thinking this will “clutter” your living room because if you do it right, it won’t.
Now that you’ve read these tips, go look at your living room and see what you can do to give it the face-lift it deserves. Don’t forget to put your creative thinking cap on because once you do we promise you’ll thank us!
